Loved the second season. For a long time it was my favorite season of the show, but now that I watched it all the way through again, I think I might really love the sixth season the best as it has an elegiac feeling of everything collapsing and breaking down.
All the seasons are pretty cool, but be prepared to be annoyed with the third season as it's the last season where the writers tried to get Meadow and AJ to do things. And there are at least 2-3 Meadow episodes that just show how bad the actress really is. She fades from the storyline after that.
The kids aren't great performers, but they don't annoy me as much as Tony's mother. I'm sorry the actress had to die for it to happen, but I'm glad she stops appearing on the show.
Still, I think that the actress who played Livia was awesome. She's a horrible human being and part of the reason why Tony and Janice are so messed up, but the actress really mines that character for all the self-pity, sense of entitlement, pleas for sympathy and simmer rage
( ... )
My main gripe with Tony's mother was actually that I don't think Nancy Marchand was a very good actress. She seems very sitcom to me, but maybe that's just my taste. I couldn't understand why critics adored Robert Forster in Jackie Brown, either.
