Hartnell crops up all over the place in films of that era. In the last few days I've caught him as the hard-nosed publican Mr Fencie in Odd Man Out and as a generic senior army officer in Private's Progress.

I think the only other movie I'd seen him in was Brighton Rock.

It's an impressive CV he had- with solid supporting roles in some of the greatest British movies.
