When I was a kid Gordon was sold to us as a great British hero. He's almost forgotten now- which is probably how it should be.

I saw the movie in Switzerland when it first came out- dubbed into French and it disappointed me- but then I'd just discovered Jean-Luc Godard and he made your common or garden studio epic look very old fashioned.

I don't think I'd heard of Gordon before this. Certainly the film pales in comparison to what Godard was doing at the time.
