There are plenty of reasons to remain silent when someone is spouting anti-Semitic and racist stuff, but when you let them speak and don't either challenge them or walk away, you are giving them de facto support.

Even if she's not an anti-Semite, she is telling the person telling anti-Semitic jokes that she is not going to make waves if other people want to be anti-Semitic.

And in 1947, not making waves when people are being anti-Semitic was a terrible choice.

Just as not making waves in regards to racists is a terrible choice today.

Well, I think one could look to Oskar Schindler as an example of someone who could do a lot of good by not making waves of the kind you mention. But if Kathy is just being a coward, I don't think she deserves to be punished the way she is in the film.
