An elderly Brit writes: The Brain's Trust was a popular BBC radio show of the period- that made national celebrities out of its regular panellists- who included people like the philosopher A.J. Ayer, the scientists Julian Huxley and Jacob Brownoski- and so on. It later transferred to TV.

Oh, yes, the Mutch character was supposed to be the host of the show on the BBC. I thought it was a more generic term, though, thanks.
