A favourite of mine. And surely one of the most beautiful films ever made. It's patchy- I find the environmentalism a little preachy at times- but the best episodes are sublime (which is not a word I use very often).

Oh, yes. The bright blue spot of the dead soldier's face, the peach blossom doll people, and that gorgeous mill pond with the flowers on the rock. Twenty five years after his first colour film, I think this is where he finally really mastered the format.
