Oh, this is brilliant. This line, in particular, just felt perfectly right with the direction of this season:

Dean's growing out of being a Winchester and Sam's growing into it, another ten years of crossed wires and backwards morality. Sam's playing the wrong side of the fence and Dean's caught where Sam was at seventeen, angry and too fucking afraid not to talk about it.

I love the way they start to thaw out in the end. Awesome.

Oh, my God, I love this so much. There's just something so simple and yet so significant about it, and there's just enough background to make it real and it's perfectly understated and very IC. Also, the Dean-where-Sam-was growing-into-being-a-Winchester and the genetic need to fix lines are completely freakin' amazing. Overall, gorgeous fic.
