So, a great many months ago, someone - perhaps trinityofone or slodwick - made mention to a particular challenge they were thinking about starting, a challenge where everyone took SGA characters and put them into an environment they knew or made them do the author's job. Lovely. I feel all nice and warm and gooey right now :) Plus, I love any McShep stories set in Chicago, so that was a bonus right there.

I loved this in unexpected ways - the quiet acceptance John displays when his life isn't what he thought it would be, his befuddlement when it comes to women and his complete lack of an idea that there might be a reason for it. But especially, I love the way Rodney - prickly and difficult - barrels his way into John's life and just takes care of him without asking for anything in return, something that John needs so much in this. :D

I think mostly that's Rodney's way of doing things - completely unsubtlely being exactly what John needs. Glad you liked it!
