Bravo. I've been waiting to watch it all week. :)

I just wish someone would teach us HOW to teach creativity...although the task force I'm on seems to be tackling it in the music rooms.

Love it.

HOW to teach creativity? Didn't you know that teachers will figure out ways to teach creativity if you just complain about the educational system enough without proposing clear imperatives as to how to actually remedy the things that are being complained about? :-D

Art and music (and Odyssey of the Mind or whatever they call it now, "DI" I think, what a stupid name) are great starters...but even science classrooms could be a lot more like choir classrooms.

But, I'd disagree. I think that music classes CAN be good...but we have to be careful to allow students to make some of the musical decisions! I think my classes have been the recipients of my creativity - a powerful factor, to be sure, because modeling is huge...but I don't give them enough leeway to exercise it. Same with art...I spent an entire art quarter drawing a wood duck. And I hate wood ducks.

AND I used the quote about it being OK to be "wrong" in class today...and the kids responded. It's a step toward safe classroom environment - which is a key factor in creativity.
