"No! Absolutely not! We will not live with animals!"
"We both have owls."
"Yes, well, they perform a vital service. Besides, they have their own space. I will not - I repeat NOT - be sharing my living quarters with a four-legged creature!"
"But look at them - they are so cute!"
"Potter, they are not cute. They are animals."
"They're cute little puppies," Harry said, green eyes wide with wonder and delight.
"Right. Well then, they are baby animals. Yet somehow they still remain animals. The answer is no!"
Harry picked up the squirmiest little golden retriever pup he could find. It wagged its tail frantically, and licked his chin, making Harry giggle. "Aw, Draco. How can you say no to this face?" He held the puppy's face up next to his own, and tilted his head against the squirmy thing, as if to say, "Look at us! Aren't we cute?"
He watched as Draco's resolve seemed to waver slightly. He had to go in for the kill now, or he might not get another chance. He pushed out his bottom lip ever so slightly and looked up at his boyfriend with big eyes. "I always wanted a puppy when I was growing up. You know ... to keep me company in my cupboard. But I was never allowed. I was hoping ... I thought that maybe ..." His voice trailed off as he put the puppy back into the cage and stepped away, determinedly looking at his feet. "Never mind. We can go now."
"Oh, alright then! If it will make you happy."
He whirled around and pulled Draco into a hug, then lifted him up and spun him around. "Oh, it would, it would, Draco. Thank you so much! You won't regret this."
He already did. "If you ever pick me up and spin me around again in public, I will have to hex your bits off."
Harry nuzzled up beside him. "You would never do that, you know. You like my bits too much."
"Yes, well, speaking of your bits ..."
Harry looked at him quizzically.
"You owe me for this, and I mean to collect." Draco raised an eyebrow. "Tonight."
