This is my personal favorite film of Heath's, discounting TDK which I haven't seen.
The Ned Kelly film was based on an actual person. A rather famous outlaw in Australia.
I thought Heath was great in the film.

I agree and I think Heath did well. I wouldn't call it my favorite by a far cry, even discounting TDK, but I can completely respect that and see why you would love it.
