I have a secret. In the world of the modern fantasy and horror literary geek, it's a bit of a dirty secret, too. You may be shocked to learn of it, but I'll share it with you anyway ( Read more... )

I've never read Gaiman either. I've glanced at bits of Sandman and others, but never actually read them. I really need to look some up. Of course, Borders here in the US is practically overrun with bloody graphic novels these days. Most of them are Japanese, but they do have a respectable bit of Gaiman. I've always liked his female death character, so I'd probably start there.

If I ever get around to it.

I curse Neil Gaiman's name. Because he is brilliant. And I have to keep buying. I'm reading Sandman. It's BLOODY EXPENSIVE.

Ohhh, yes. I read the introduction and went "Dammit, the man is a god. So much for my clothing budget."

What? Books are more important than clothing. They rank right up there with food and shelter, if only because you get dizzy and can't read if you don't eat, and they get all damp if you don't have a roof.

Exactly! Clothes? Eh, old clothes work JUST FINE. New books are VITAL. Or at least books one hasn't read yet, even if they're used. :p

I'm glad you're getting to read him finally! If I'd known of your previous lack of Gaiman in your world, I would have surely brought you guys some books as presents. Well, next time I suppose. And I won't talk about the event with him either :-)

If you get a chance, there are a few books that are available in mass market in most Chapters (but since the 'far-out' ones only ever carry 1 copy at a time, good luck hunting for it, sorry), I'd recommend Neverwhere and American Gods. American Gods is a good one to read before Anansi Boys, it kind of sets up the context of that story.

I'd read some of his Death graphic novels, which I absolutely adored, but of course was too flat-ass broke at the time to buy myself.

I have a feeling Chapters.ca is going to be a big help to me here. Of course, if you absolutely must bring me books, I suppose I could accept that. ;P
