The tortoise seems to do well with mediocrity and bark may not always catch the eye, but serves purpose and beauty in its own right. And I will resist making a crack about the human race having yet to achieve so high a rank as mediocrity. Oh wait...

I guess what I meant to say was that nothing great ever happens on a mediocre, stagnant level.
The mediocre people (majority of the human race) never achieve something great.
