I liked how the speaker recognizes that regardless of whether it was 'good' or not, painting was something that Ann needed to do, that helped her be herself, and tried to help her return to it. Nicely done.

I'm really glad you encouraged her... I'm of the strong belief that anyone with an interest in any sort of art should pursue it with passion, damn the quality of the end result. I hope she took you up on it. (I also loved how many three word sentences there were in this piece, btw.)
