Damn you Dan Fogelberg! (Warning: Earworms)

So I went to the mall yesterday to pay my charge bill and eat some bad food... ( and then I went to get a coffee )

There are two late seventies songs that do this to me: Time Passages ("Send me a ticket for the last train home tonight") and ... that one that played every freaking morning on the bus to seventh grade. Shit, what was that? "Saaaaaaaailing takes me awaaaay to where I never thought I could be" or whatever the hell the words are. ARGH!

Actually, I don't think that's the song from the bus, but the trauma has blocked the truth from my mind. Every time I hear it I scream, but in between I apparently can't remember what it was.

I refuse to be embarrassed by the fact that I own a copy of Bread's Greatest Hits though. On cassette. Somewhere. I haven't seen it in years, but I still know all the words to "Baby I'ma Wanchoo."

Is that better? Or is it worse? I would prefer Jefferson Airplane's White Rabbit.

Oh God, I remember that Sailing song. Christopher Cross. Yikes. And today I also heard "September," by Earth, Wind, and Fire, which was one of the songs they made us dance to in 8th grade gym class. Such a bad flashback. Not because of the song itself, but, 8th grade? Eeeesh.

"Baby Ima Wanchoo!" Hee. I've always wondered what a Wanchoo looks like.

I can't decide if it's better or worse, but now I have more songs for the next Earworm Olympics someone starts at my office. Hell, about a month ago I had the theme song from the Muppet Show running through my head for two weeks.

Oh no, now I just remembered the melody for the Time Passages song! I thought I'd be immune to that one because I couldn't remember the melody, and then... Gah!

So what pops into my head to fight off Time Passages? "She was a fast machine, she kept her motor clean, she was the best damn woman..." There must be something wrong with me. heh.

The one and only AC/DC cassette I ever had. A religious freak boyfriend I had back then took it to the rifle range and blew it up. (God and guns, what the HELL was I thinking?)

I got ELO's Don't Bring Me Down in my head to counteract the Fogelberg and inevitable follow on Air Supply. It still makes me shake my head that I listened to Air Supply and AC/DC during the same time. And the Eagles. And Adam Ant.

Sorry about that song. Once I remember the chorus, I'm a goner.

Yes, I have perfectly good brain cells dedicated to knowing all of the lyrics to She Shook Me All Night Long.

No apologies needed... I knew it was dangerous to do an earworm post. heh.

Ah, I remember listening to both the Eagles and Adam Ant, too. The 80s, they left their mark.
