Brilliant and very logical solution, assuming Neal has the patience to pull it off. Plus it has the added advantage that if items from the manifest that Peter has start showing up while Neal is still sitting in NY, it's practically impossible to tie Neal to those sales, even if Peter is 99% sure that Neal is involved.

Thanks!
Neal's a forger so patience is pretty much a prerequisite and it's highly unlikely a piece of art, sold to a private buyer overseas, would throw up any flags put up by one junior agent in Washington.

THIS IS AN AWESOME PLAN. I wholeheartedly second this plan. :D And this story is completely adorable.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you agree. It seems so obvious now doesn't it?

You are my brain twin! My bff and I were just talking about this the other day...Peter only chases after them if NEAL leaves. Neal running is stupid and unnecessary. Mozzie could totally do the leg work on this one. He has the expertise and the contacts and Peter isn't close enough to Mozzie to immediately notice his absence. He doesn't know Mozzie's real name or any of his other alias' so he has next to no way to track him, other than Mr. Jeffries and Neal, he's got nothing on Mozzie...he doens't even really know where he lives lol. Plus, Neal sticking around gives them the added bonus of having an inside man; Neal can keep an eye/ear out and make sure no one is tracking Mozzie or the art. Neal only has two years left on the anklet and then he can throw deuces at the FBI legally and Peter has no choice but to let him go.

Thanks for the feedback, I appreciate it. I'm glad you liked the story and were thinking something similar. Then again, if Neal did choose the obvious solution, there would be a lot less drama in the show.

Great story - and I love the obvious solution. Neal really is completely redundant in the existing situation, unless Mozzie did all of this primarily to get Neal back into 'the life' and away from the influence of Peter.
