Miracle Gro Orchid Potting Mix ruined my orchids. I have to say the mix is incredibly rich and made the orchids look great after potting. But a day later, we noticed a tiny black fly, then another one, and another one; soon we had an infestation. We picked up two kinds of insecticide. They helped, but the flies persisted. Ahh! I am so jealous of your 7 orchids. I'm sorry, though, that you have pests. My grandmother recommends a 50:50 combination of alcohol (I'm assuming the 70% isopropyl alcohol at drug stores) and 409 (yes the cleaning solution). She said to spray it on everything. I told her that sounded drastic and she assured me that someone old at the orchid society told her and it's never killed one of her orchids. If you don't have luck with the worms or they get out of hand and invade your ears maybe you could try this. Good luck.
