You didn't see the first version. I'm happier now, but still see things I could've done better. I just ran out of steam. I'll have more time for the last chapter.
Min gave me the idea for the conversation with Luna. I thought it turned out nice. And you're not the first to question Lavender and Pavarti's reaction. I probably should've come up with someone else, but I was thinking that teenage girls can be quite fickle, so friendships from previous years, even under the duress of war, could turn on a dime. I think Pavarti might have a little thing for Dean, too. ;D
Yes, I'm well into a sequel, but a long way from finishing it. And I won't start posting until I have it mostly done. I hate getting into a WIP that never gets finished, so I won't do that to anyone else. This story will end without a cliffhanger, so if I never get the sequel done it won't really matter.
My favorites...hmmmm. I have a number of them, but they're on my computer at home. I'll try to pull together a list when I get back. Meanwhile, I would suggest ANYTHING by minisinoo at http://www.themedicinewheel.net. You'll find plenty on this site to keep you reading for a while. In the HP universe, she writes canon-based AU usually featuring Cedric Diggory. Her novel-length "Finding Himself" is wonderful and is complete; the sequel is a WIP.
I have to be honest and admit that at first, I groaned a bit when Luna appeared, and it was obvious she and Ginny were going to have a heart-to-heart. This is mainly because the whole "ever-so-wise Luna floats into a scene and solves everyone's emotional problems" thing has, unfortunately, become such a fanfiction cliche (Luna rules, but c'mon, she doesn't have the answer to every single emotional woe known to man, for heaven's sake). Nonetheless, you actually made it work very well, and this was one of the few times in fanfiction where I was actually able to believe the "Luna heals all with some well-chosen words" thing (I know she didn't really heal all, but... you know what I mean ;) ). I had a reaction similar to Ginny's: "Oh yeah, Luna was captured and kept in captivity as well! I forgot!" *smacks self on forehead* So Luna actually was the perfect person to talk to Ginny in this situation, and the way you wrote their conversation rang very true
( ... )
Thanks for the nitpick. I don't know any Brit-pickers, but I imagine you're absolutely right.
I'm glad the Luna scene exceeded your initial expectations. I briefly toyed with the idea of using George or Hermione as a sounding board, but Luna really was the best person in this situation.
I'm glad you liked the dance scene, too. It's one of my favorites.
One more chapter. Hope it lives up to everyone's expectations. ;)
I'm sure it will meet expectations. :) You've set it up perfectly for their reunion: Harry realized a few chapters ago that he shouldn't have taken Ginny for granted in the weeks after the war, and Ginny has now realized what Harry was going through and that she was too hard on him about it all. They're ready. It's time for snogging! :D
