I noticed the locations, too. The one I really noticed was that overhang where Merlin and Gwaine hid from Odin's soldiers that were passing through. Haven't we seen that overhang in quite a few episodes

I'm almost glad that Gwen and Arthur are married now. It seems that now that they don't have to develop their relationship, Merthur gets to take center stage again. Gwen and Arthur had barely spoken before this episode.
BAMF!Arthur would be nice. He's not the king I hope he would be at this point. I have issues with Arthur's judgment. Time and time again, he puts his trust in the wrong people. the most recent example being Mordred. I really can't see how he ends up the Once and Future King at this point.
You know, I think Gwen's chair is the same as the one Mithian is sitting in. You really shouldn't have the ruling royalty sitting in the same seat as the guests, no matter how royal they are
( ... )
You're right. I think Gwen and Mithian's chairs are the same. That's just ridiculous. Gwen's the queen for god's sake!
did he only marry Gwen so he could leave Camelot constantly, or what? Haha. I quite like this theory too. Arthur needs a co-ruler he can rely on, after all. Arthur's always needed someone to help him rule. But I've never been certain he needed a wife. He has that kind of support from Merlin.
I think I was mostly shocked because there was an interview where Colin mentioned that he was specifically told to not be good with a sword. After that, it made it even more surprising that Merlin is somewhat competent without magic.
In regards to Arthur's need for a queen, that always makes me think of one version of the legends I read where Merlin was bringing up the idea of getting married to Arthur. He said that Arthur should consider getting married soon because CAMELOT needed a queen and he needed an HEIR (my emphasis). There was nothing about Arthur himself needing a wife, it was all about the needs of the kingdom
( ... )
I agree. Arthur does need a queen so he can have an heir. That's definitely one of Arthur's most important duties. Which... apparently he's not fulfilling in Merlin? Three years, and no Pendragon baby? Are we really expected to take this without explanation?
I would think that if he truly loved Gwen with a burning passion and wanted to be with her, he would be fighting harder for the right to choose his own bride. Very true. He very nearly went through with the marriage to Elena. It was Merlin's little speech that made him realize he should do otherwise. I always did think that Merlin was more excited about Arthur and Gwen getting married than they themselves were.
As for the interview, it was from the recent RadioTimes interview actually. I figured they didn't want Merlin to be good with a sword, but I expected some improvement throughout the series. So after reading about Colin specifically being told not to get better, then seeing Merlin's semi-competence was pretty surprising.
I've come to the conclusion that the only time there will be a magical reveal is the last episode of this show. They already killed the one knight who knew about Merlin, I'm afraid they'll be going after Gaius next. Maybe because strange wind and earthquakes happen so often, everyone thinks it's a natural occurence. Morgause didn't suspect Merlin after he flinged her against the wall, Morgana just never suspects Merlin.
Also, Morgana has no quells with killing any soldier/knights but hesistates at killing Merlin. In fact, she's had millions of opportunities to kill Arthur, Merlin, and Gwen but doesn't take it, I'm hoping it's because she's unable to bring herself to do it and not just ridiculous writing.
I've come to the conclusion that the only time there will be a magical reveal is the last episode of this show. I really hope it doesn't come to that. That would be a terrible end to the show. I'm just terrified that they'll try to stretch it out as long as they can and not give us a reveal in season five, then not get renewed for a season six. Meaning we'll be left hanging forever.
I hope it's because Morgana can't bring herself to kill her old friends too. Might actually add some depth to her character. Unfortunately, it's probably just bad writing.
Morgana had promised that Odin would get to kill Arthur, in return she would get an army. (With Odin having gotten himself a new kingdom, he apparently had an army to spare since it seems only Camelot's people are loyal to their king. Mhm...) If she blows her cover then Arthur won't walk into the trap.
I was hoping for an oldies!fight! :D Dragoon/Emrys vs. Old!Morgana. The writes really do love head injuries.
And poor Gwain! Him so happy to see Merlin all better, going for a hug and not getting no love at all! I so loved their bromance. Promt, anyone?
Arthur/Gwen is just... I don't even... Thank God for fanfiction.
The writers do love head injuries, don't they? People are always getting hit on the head. It's a wonder Arthur hasn't lost brain function yet.
Gwaine deserved a hug! Poor guy. Merlin's just way too focused on Arthur. All the better for Merthur shippers though! Still, my heart went out to Gwaine when Merlin pushed him away.
Fanfiction is a godsend. I don't know how I'd get through all those Arwen scenes without it.
The Gwen/Arthur relationship is driving me insane this season. It was never really strong to begin with but in this season, they're more like brother/sister than husband/wife.

Arthur is gathering allies and Morgana is gathering enemies.
This sentence sums it up quite nicely.
