Where they've taken Castiel makes no sense. At all. And even though I hated it, I could at least recognize that it's a solid story, except it isn't. I don't like it, and it's poorly written. If it were one or the other... Castiel's actions in the last few episodes made no sense, and even now "he" isn't really evil. If the only way they could make him evil was the powerup, maybe they should have rethought it. Because it's not in character for him to set himself up as an adversary. I still hate it, but I really hope that the souls are controlling him, because if we're going for the power corrupts thing, please. All season Cas has been about free will and saving the planet, and now he's...not?

I'm gonna go back to my season 4 Castiel ;__;

On the one hand, it's a little bit better done than Sam's descent to darkness because at least Castiel's fall in this case is really the definition of road to hell being paved by good intentions.

My main problem is that with Misha not being a regular next season, this comes across as a rushed quick fix (because they fucked Sam to oblivion and he has yet to be redeemed -- I dun give a crap about Dean's talk of clean slates) to throw the audience's focus back on Sam and Dean and because they're finding they've pissed on that relationship. This is more than obvious because they have pretty much swept away every supporting character pretty fast towards the end. And now they're doing it Castiel.

UGH.

I have no problem with this part of his story. But it seems OOC to me for Cas to lie about bringing Sam out of Hell, even for him not to say he was working with Crowley. Why would that be a big secret? They've all done it. It was only kept a secret so that the writers could have the big "reveal" IMO. The split between Dean and Cas felt manufactured.

Thank you bb. My problem pretty much.
And now Dean's reaction just feels out of place. They've all done such shit that was so much worse anyway.

The later part of this season was such a mess. First of all, Samuel is brought back and then that thread is completely abandoned. He's an asshole to them and then dies. I ask why they brought him back to begin with. Eve is built up so much only to be completely abandoned later too, killed by phoenix ashes as if she were nothing. I really do think that they had originally planned to make her the big baddie, and then they pooped the Evil!Castiel out and decided to also thread that in...and it just felt so disjointed.
