This blog was extablish to chronicle all the stuff that would happen as I march inexorable but cluelessly towards army life - thus "Highway to the suck". Well, the journey ends in less then two weeks. two. fucking. weeks. Then 2 years would be thrown down the drain. Even though during the last few months while my NS status was in limbo I probably

Now, here's the most important thing. They'll give you this form to state your CCA involvement. Make it known to them that u're proficient (you'll be surprised how it seems to be a rarity in the SAF esp in units), and represented Singapore in debates.
Then, from time to time during your BMT there'll be ppl from other units coming in to interview selected people whom they intend to select. And with your cca involvement put down, chances are you'll be called for an interview. That was how Xander got his uber-shoik vocation with the OSC or some dunno what 'source centre' located in Paya Labar Air Base. They'll scare those with horror stories initially about how shitty the vocation is to sieve out those who are just in there for the easy life (who isn't?), and if u just stay on after the interview, you'll eventually get the job.
All that's left to do then, is to enjoy 2 years of 3 day work week and internet surfing.

Usually PES C they won't tekan you much. Oh but there's a question, u must be sure if yours is a permanent PES C or would you be pending medical board review. it might be a little tricky if you're the latter cos' somewhere along the line you might be called for a review with the possibility of upping your PES status. But i guess, if u complete ur PES C BMT, chances are u're gonna stay PES C. The only problem is if they call u up for review in the middle of your BMT...which i guess is really up to u to find someway to convince them that u should stay PES C.

i actually wouldn't mind two years off from an achedemic life which's only to be suceeded by an eternity of never-ending work, motivated by the need to feed oneself and hopefully, a family as well. and in the competitive singaporean society, where the arbituary imposed 2 year hiatus would be condemned left right centre, it would be impossible to do that unless it were imposed by a third party body, and implemented across the nation (yay games theory).
of course, that is just me trying to mitigate the agony in enlistment, so no need to rebutt me la.
btw, is there a time and place we can go see you off?
