Very nice! There aren't enough fics about the awesome women of this universe. I like that you chose to go with a Winona and Frank who try to support Jim instead of beat and ignore him.
Ubercoolness - very original. I like it very much.... It's interesting to see things from her point of view. To hear references to things that were in the movie presented in the journal format.
A technical thing, not that big of a deal as it's someone's journal after all and as such you have leeway, but you might like to think about consistence in which tense you're going to use :)
You should write more! I do believe I'm still waiting on a fic. LOL
I haven't been reading any ST fic or much fanfic at all lately, but I'm really glad I read this. I liked this insight into Kirk's mom's thoughts and found it really touching that she kept the journal even after she'd re-married. This was quite lovely. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks! I had read about her in a few other fics and decided to get more info about it.
I also wanted to show a softer and nicer said to Winona. A lot of people in this fandom (that I've seen anyway) tend to write that she treated Jim like crap because he looked so much like George and she resented him. It was starting to get really annoying.
