Tetris is 25 years old today.

It's true, Tetris has really hung on. Nobody plays Donkey Kong anymore. Minesweeper? Pfft. Only if you're stuck at work on a really shitty computer. Really old games sometimes enjoy a brief nostalgia fling, but Tetris has always been there, never flagging in popularity. I think it's the simplicity of the game ( Read more... )

Oh man, I've been pretty much addicted to all of these games at some time in my life, either in a hand-held version or on the computer. And let's not forget Pac Man. I miss those games! I still play Minesweeper on MSN sometimes.

And I did know Tetris was Russian. The little tune it has really sounds Russian, too. here it is. :)

OMG, I feel SO old! I'm with ya on the geometry games. I do prefer the meditative game over the tension-filled ones. Probably the reason I like simulation games as well. Geesh, Tetris is 25! Please don't tell me how old the Infocom games are. *pops a Geritol*
