Title: Sudden Sunlight
Rating: PG

Timeline: Between Charade and Sacrifice, but I probably play with canon a little to fit the song.  This takes place very shortly after the events in "Sleepless Smiles."  This can be read as a stand-alone, but I reccomend you read that first.

Summary: “He accepted her, wrapping his arm around her and it hadn’t ( Read more... )

Thanks for this lovely offering, babes!

I'll have to leave a proper comment later, as I'm off to bed now. But it's great to see Chloe admitting her feelings to herself for now, even if she can't admit them to Oliver.

Love it! :-D *huggles*

I can totally imagine Chloe going over each and every negative point of her life. She's convinced she doesn't deserve love and happiness. Too bad Oliver Queen will not let her stir in her own darkness. He is her light. Loved how you wrote them in this part.
Thank you for sharing.

It's funny, because when I heard this song, I immediately thought of Chloe (and I'm bothering Keiko to make a vid for this song too... even if she posts it next year). That said, the sunlight thing was something that I realized when I was about halfway done this piece. It really is a beautiful metaphor and a perfect tie-in to the text message.

Glad to hear you've enjoy this one. At this rate, I'm not sure how far this little story will go... and to think it started from a small drabble. But for now, this will be it.

Thanks as always for the feedback, I'm hoping to finalize your "Words" tomorrow/Monday.

I went back and read the companion piece just to be safe, and these dovetail nicely with each other. Poor Chloe - a lifetime of doubts up against a possibility. And she wants to embrace the possibility of having something real with Oliver, but fear is a tangible wall in her life when it comes to trusting others. And Oliver could try pounding it down, but he was smart enough to recognize that he'd be better off letting her take the wall down stone by stone. Slow but steady progress - and you illustrated it very well here. I like little pieces like this! Thanks for sharing it with us :)

The song was a strong inspiration, but the talk was Tess was really enlightening when writing this. Chloe clearly has it in her head that Oliver's going to leave, but on-screen, we never get that sense from her.

Sure, people in her life have a tendency to leave, but with Oliver, you can almost sense it's different and that she wants to hold onto it. Oliver, well, the guy's pretty smart in general.

Not going to lie, I really enjoy this series, so I'm glad you do too!
