FIC: This is Not (McGee, Tony, PG-13)

Feb 15, 2007 21:40

Apparently, I wrote more stories about Tony and McGee than I really remembered. This is a stream-of-consciousness "Twilight" AU that I was never quite sure of--it's dark, angry, a little strange. Warning for character death.

In which something goes wrong. )

Ah, man...just hit me with a sledgehammer next time. This is just about as perfect as a fic can get: sharp, intelligent writing and a plotline that grabs at the heart and never lets go. Beautifully done- Matt

Thanks!--Although you're right, I really do need to write something happier. (And so sorry for taking so long to get back to you on this!)

Poor McGee, not knowing quite how he should feel, 'cause they weren't friends, but at the same time, they kinda really were. Great fic- very touching and heartbreaking. Great characterisation of McGee too.

Thanks! I don't think McGee had really reconciled here that just because he didn't know Tony outside of work (or even always like him) didn't mean that they weren't friends. And, because I'm a horrible person, I'm glad you found it heartbreaking--poor McGee.

*sigh* I didn't comment on every one of your ff.net stories because I didn't want to spam you, and yet, here I am, leaving yet another comment. I like your AU takes on Twilight, but the thing that stuck out most for me was this line... Every bullet in Gibbs’s gun was gone before McGee could fire, and he thought that felt horribly like loss. I'm not entirely sure why that line resonated with me above the others, but it did. I'm not a big McGee fan, but you've made me feel for him, in this story as in others. Nice job and thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much! Oddly enough, I never really thought of myself as a McGee fan until I looked back at all the stories and saw how often he appeared--I'm glad you found him sympathetic in this and in the other stories.

Your stories consistently manage to make me cry.

I'm taking it as a good thing. Thanks.
