I said I'd never disclose mine because it's embarrassing to me for some reason. But after talking with enough people who admit to having their own, I decided to get mine out there! This one's Russia/Lithuania because it's my longest. This is what I listen to when I write (which obviously I do a lot). In italics are the parts that get me best, ( Read more... )

I love Depeche Mode, and You Could Be Happy has always struck me as terribly sad. Great song choices <3

You Could Be Happy is very sad. :< For seven or so years after the Soviet crumbled Russia and Lithuania had little to no contact at all, so that's why I think it fits in there. It's a sad song, but a song of acceptance that 'I want you to be happy, I hope you're happy, be happy even without me'. Russia would never say that in person, but I think he would feel it.

--Depeche Mode really is kind of Russia's band, I'm starting to think.

All of your choices seem really sound, by the lyrics! Some of them actually made me tear up a little, which - might be a bit of weirdness of my part, but it's definitely good? XD

(By the way, I got the 1920s anthology yesterday, and oh gosh your fic. I loved it! ♥)

There's some I didn't add from Depeche Mode simply because they were more character centric and not pairing geared. Like 'Walking in My Shoes' is awesome for Russia. So I have to agree with you there. XD

Don't worry, I tear up sometimes too. XD;

(Yaayy~♥ I'm glad you loved it!♥♥)

Yeah! I've always liked "It's No Good" for Russia. Actually, looking at your FST, if "You Could Be Happy" is Russia->Lithuania post-Soviet, then "It's No Good" could very well be Russia's thought process during the thick of things.

Gonna take my time
I have all the time in the world
To make you mine

Don't say you want me
Don't say you need me
Don't say you love me
It's understood
Don't say you're happy
Out there without me
I know you can't be
'Cause it's no good

That song makes me think of post Empire, and perhaps when Liet was with America. Poor Russia. XD It also fits post-Soviet before he came to terms with all of his feelings on the matter yes.
