it's always kibum who leaves without saying goodbye. he stays late at work and goes out for drinks afterward but doesn't call before doing either. kibum's out, minho's at home. that's the way it's always been.
so when he tosses his keys onto the coffee table and kicks off his shoes and calls for minho, minho, where are you damnit, he doesn't understand why he isn't getting a response. he's yelling like he always does, calling minho into the living room to download from a exaggeratedly stressful day, to flip through fashion magazines with him for the latest and greatest. there's three minutes of no response before kibum gets up to see if minho's in his room, his headphones in, book in hands, feet on desk.
his room smells just like him - like summer; fresh cut dew grass mornings, firefly nights and secrets whispered into cupped hands and eager ears. he deserves this, he knows, but seeing minho's room but no minho is like a right hook to the gut. kibum falls (in pain?) onto his bend, wraps his arms around his pillow, and feels the neatly folded note underneath. minho knows him all too well.
out. back later.
-minho.
