Over the past week, I've joined six or more sites that allow direct downloads of the manga and anime, because Bittorent doesn't work right on this computer. SIX SITES.
I love to look at cosplayer costumes, makes me wish I was a better at sewing so I could cosplay. Alas my only two serious ventures into sewing for school projects ended in disaster. Ah well, I can still look at the pretty pictures.^^

In the "past" (like around 15 years ago), when American cosplay really started picking up at cons, it was true. Lots of cosplay was created with whatever people had on hand, but they had fun with it. As time, worksmanship, and creativity progressed (probably about 5 years ago), the cosplay scene started getting very catty and competative. It was Not Good and very reminiscent of high school drama. *rolls eyes*
Anyways, American cosplay has much more experience and so the cosplays have gotten much better.
But really, no matter the country, if you take the time, patience and energy to work on a costume, it will look good.
