I've found recs for almost all different fic scenarios, but I'm having troubles finding good stories that deal with William and/or Grace Ellison. I've found a couple, but my mining has been slow ( Read more... )

Hi! ::waves::

One of my favourite Grace stories is 'Finding Grace' by Lemon Drop.

Um, slash, but not overly so. *g* Hope it's one you haven't read yet... enjoy :~)

That's a great one! Lemon Drop's style is so wonderful.

Lemon Drop's style is so wonderful.

It is, isn't it? ::beams::

I keep meaning to tell you how awed I am at whatever system you're using for indexing fic, and your speed in using it when somebody is in need. We need to appoint you to the position of Chief Oracle *hg*

We need to appoint you to the position of Chief Oracle

::chuckles:: I like that title -- definitely something to live up to! Mostly, I'm keeping lists of links and short blurbs by "theme", like Jim and Blair as Parents, or Blair To The Rescue. Not perfect but it helps jog my memory. I'll also add recs with the same theme that other people like you have come up with. That makes it a more complete list and also gives me more reading material.

I love this fandom. Everyone is generous with their information and fun and so enthusiastic. Of course, it's pretty easy to get enthused over Jim and Blair! *g* ::hugs back::

I just recced this one earlier, Olivia's Meaning of Motion, Jim and Blair visit William, father-son issues and post diss angst, insightful and well written:

Yeah, I'd read but forgotten about this one. It's an interesting story and not particularly easy to read. It's one of the few where there's a mention of Mary as Jim's mom and there was a discussion on Sentenalia as to whether Mary or Grace is Jim's mom.

This is a meaner William than I normally prefer. Also, Jim and Blair antagonizing each other as a misdirection reminds me of Merry's "A Quiet War". So much hurt before they recognize the truth.

Thanks for the reminder.

Yikes, I'm looking back at my comments and it looks like I'm less than enthusiastic.

I don't want to leave the impression that it's a bad story. I liked reading the story and admiring Olivia's style and inventiveness. It held my attention all the way through, trying to figure out whether they were going to make it or not. It's just that it's the kind of story that's unsettling for most of the time you are reading it. (Duh, I know there's a word for that -- oh yeah, ANGST!) I would encourage anyone to give it a try!

I knew I was going to forget some.

Rebel's Full Circle Arc. After the press conference, William and Stephen are helpful to Blair.

If you haven't read Alyjude's Jake series, it's wonderful. William gets a chance to redeem himself by being an excellent grandfather and also very accepting of Jim and Blair's relationship. Here's the series. The Thanksgiving, Christmas and Big Five are the ones that feature William prominently doing his grandfather thing. Also, in the Full Circle Trilogy, when a potential disaster threatenes the Sandburg/Ellison household, Simon and William team up to stop it:

Everything’s Jake
We Gather Together - Thanksgiving
We Gather Together - Christmas and Chanaukah
The Bestest….Vally Times Card Ever
Fireworks
Junior Guppy
Full Circle Trilogy
A Day At The Zoo
The Big Five
A Strange Anniversary

Sorry, I'm having trouble with the creating links thing so I'll just do the URLs for the Aly stories ( ... )

Oh, wow. I guess I did come to the right place. I had read the Jake series before, but there are several recs that you gave that I hadn't come across. Thank you!
