... What a cliff hanger!
As he met the gaze of those red eyes and saw the mouth open impossibly wide to reveal several rows of sharp, broken teeth, Ikkou knew that the man he had sought out as his own salvation from boredom had become prey to something far more dangerous.
That was my favorite line from this installment. Your way of describing that's great.
I also enjoyed how you had Isshu react to the news. I could easily picture his thoughts being that way.
Hope to see more soon! You've got me intrigued. ^^

Hahah. I must confess to having the "Tekken 5" opening theme on loop whilst writing this. ^^ A friend of ours introduced us to the series a couple of months back as I'd never played it (I still can't leave behind my 2D fighters!) and I actually really enjoyed it. This was scribbled down during several weeks of balancing gameplay on "Tag", "5" and "4" (and, much to my shame, getting beaten often by automated_alice) so you're pretty spot on with that observation. Yousuke's illness was definitely ripped off from inspired by the devil gene and the Satsui no Hadou storyline present in "Street Fighter Alpha"/"Street Fighter II".

I'm really happy you liked it ~ and that you got some many of my fighting game references.
Thank you. ^^ I really owe you one and I promise I'll try and deliver the rest of the story more promptly than my "Sailor Moon" pieces. ^^

Kudos! Can't wait for the next part!
~laughs~ and yeah, I was thinking "Tekken," too. Is Tekken 5 any good? I only got through #4

You're spot on with this. ^^ There's a whole level of depth in the way the Super Kasumi Bros. are presented in the series that is kind of hinted at but not really touched on that much ~ I think I trust Ikkou a lot more than I do Isshu. We've seen Ikkou with his back to the wall and despite his whole 'hedgehog's dilemma' emotional response he still acts like a man determined to hold his head high. Isshu's very different, I'm not saying he's weaker but, you know, I do wonder that, if he were ever pushed to the very limits, Isshu might find there's a lot more of his father in him than he'd like to admit.
Kudos! Can't wait for the next part!
I really appreciated your time and comments. Thank you so much. ^^
Is Tekken 5 any good? I only got through #4Ah, here's the difficult question. ^^ "5" is very smooth and handles a lot better, IMHO, than "4" (none of that sliding around stuff!) but it tries to do too much at times. A lot of the characters ( ... )

I think the differences between Ikkou and Isshu are especially apparent in #38, Demon Blade and Balloons. When Miss Oboro has to make changes to Goraijin, Ikkou isn't happy but deals with it. Isshu freaks out - almost like it was the straw that broke the camel's back.
Oh, character analyzation, you are so fun :)

It might just be the death of me though. ^^

Is that the Ikazuchi Spear of Dad episode? Yeah, you're spot on with your 'straw + camel' comment. ^^ Isshu's really on edge through that. I kind of feel sorry for him because he starts off as the strong, angry young man who beats the shit out of people because he's got a big brother he can lean on and a big brother who *believes* in what they're doing so much that Isshu wants to believe to get the kind of respect from his brother that his dad never provided...and then everything changes and Isshu's left floundering and you realise that he never grew up properly, he's still a kid at heart trying to make friends and utterly lacking the proper social skills to do so because of his upbringing.
Oh, character analyzation, you are so fun :)
It's the best past time in the world. ^^
