School's been draining my creativity recently. Can`t wait until the new Naruto chapter comes out. It might spark back some inspiration into my head. Anyways, a drabble from Pein's perspective.
Also: I know what you mean about school being a drain. I still lovvveee the characters, but putting aside the free creative time is harder when I have to study and fill my head with textbook knowledge. I'm excited as ever for the new chapter, though. Those always put me into the most inspired mental spaces.
Pein IS a pain in the ass to write (imho). I never feel like I write him terribly well, myself, but I do think understatement is the key to PK, so I believe you are stylistically suited to his voice (and hers).
Hey thanks for the comments. I've been exploring w/ this style of writing for a while. It's interesting to write this pairing b/c I agree that understatement is the key to PK and it's what I love about them.
Pein...*sigh* I don't know how you do it. I didn't expect him to be this hard to write, tbh. It's so hard to get inside his brain!
oh, aojdfkjdfdjs. We clearly secretly share a brain, since I wrote a drabble about Pein facing off against Naruto, and I used that same damn executioner allusion. And yours is much better.. xDDD Damn.
The PK fandom has been fantasizing nonstop about Pein confronting Naruto, and what emotional reaction this would (might?) draw from him. I liked how subtle you made it, how he merely smiles, and how his thoughts unfold while Naruto screams in his face.
It's an extra-neat title. Pein is an icon himself, but so is Naruto, you know? One thing they said about the Sex Pistols as iconoclasts was that they had one last icon to shatter- their own. But both Naruto and Pein seem ultra-committed to their ideals. They dismantle the society around them, and neither seem very introspective anymore (Pein was as a child, and now clearly this is no longer the case. Too many questions could damage his faith in his delusion.)
In Naruto, I suppose the icon Naruto shatters is 'the old way', the shinobi society that condones war and shrugs it's

OHHHHH you wrote a Pein and Naruto drabble??!?! where where? I must have missed the post. I saw your PK fic, which was lovely^^
Thanks for the comments. I like the whole idea of Pein squaring off w/ Naruto. They do have as many similarities as they have differences so it's fun to compare and contrast.
I srsly liked yours way better, though. xDDD I haven't posted mine yet, but when I do, I'll post a link in my normal!LJ. I still have to edit it for coherence.
And thanks so much for your review as well. <333 We've got a mutual admiration society going here.
Pein/Naruto is going to be so epic in the manga, and I really liked how you portrayed his thought processes. It's very interesting that he remains resolute, but you can kind of see him struggle a bit too. Naruto would almost have to shake him. And it is pretty basic human nature to cliiiiiiiiing to ideals as soon as you feel they are being threatened.
It's neat how Pein kinda taunted Naruto in your drabble too. That mocking smile. xDDD G
I've read a couple of your drabbles, and I really love this spare writing style that's so simultaneously evocative and terse... *fans self*. You name the characters and I will totally draw you fan arts.
I'm pretty new to the Naruto fandom, so I haven't really explored the billions of pairings/characters yet. I've drawn Neji, Gaara/Lee, Deidara/Sasori, and that shameful thing you saw earlier x). Anything, really. I like a challenge.
