You know, I'm a free market capitalist. But even I can see a hell of a lot of sense in what you're saying. As "Cookie Monster" put it, "Yes, there will always be rich and poor. But rich used to own factory and make 30 times what factory worker make. Now rich make money from lying about derivative bonds and make 30 times what factory worker would make had all factories not been moved to China ( ... )

Ive never heard free market capitalism described as 'not communism', surely free market means fundamentally allowing supply and demand to dictate trends in capital with a minimum of regulation. allowing free movement of capital, surely this is not the opposite of communism but rather the opposite of monopoly and controlled markets (both features of communism granted but without the socio-political aspects).

The major flaw in the current free market capitalism is the abondonment of some contracts, those contracts that dont suit the markets. For example Anglo-Irish bank had a AAA rating due to the housing boom here, other banks throw capital at anglo in the hope of getting a good return, buble busts, agencies downgrade the bank, banks stop investing in anglo, anglo cant pay the investors back....and heres the crucial part, investors get paid back anyway by the taxpayer. That is breking the fundamental rule of capitalism which is 'Your investment may go up as well as down'.

Here in America, capitalism has come to mean that a tiny percentage of people have everything, and most people have next to nothing and live in fear. People who thought playing by the rules, getting an education, doing what their parents did, would mean they would not suffer, are finding it all falling apart ( ... )

I've heard that here too against our occupy movements. Crusties, hippies, etc nothing but pathetic ad hominem arguements. If its not that its teh old chestnut 'but theyre not giving any solutions' my answer to that is that these people do not understand representative democracy.

When I go to vote i do not go with a ballot in one hand and a list of bills to be ratified in the other that i have drawn up myself. Instead I am going to delegate that power to someone else. I am not giving them a mandate to do what they want but to do what they said and operate in my interests and those of my fellow electorates. If they arent doing that shouting 'hey, fix it, but do it in a way that doesnt fuck up the world', same way my boss will say to me 'ken fix this but try not to destroy the company in the process' he doesnt have to tell me how, its my job to know how.

Im sure if they wanted to have fun camping out in november in a city is not the way to go about it
