Well, it's very postmodern, and will probably play better in the States. Although we have a cut-price version of the "famous for being famous" phenomenon here, too, Ms. Hilton is at something of a global disadvantage. A part in the last - unnecessary - remake of House of Wax, a brief prison term, and re-runs of yet another formulaic "reality" TV show - broadcast at an inconvenient time on a channel with a very low audience - doesn't really amount to a guaranteed (or sustainable) level of interest/recognition in the world media melting pot.
Good point about being able to laugh at oneself, though. I'm very much looking forward to Hillary Clinton's inevitable TV advertisement for a loans company. That can't be far off now...
