Do you happen to know what boats, or what year, or if you're referring to the cannery in Newport? One of those boats might have belonged to my father...
I'm sorry, I think this painting has been hanging in our building since before I started here. I can tell it's of purse seiners, but I have no idea which ones or where they are, or when it was painted.
Was he based in Newport Beach? I know that building is still there, but it closed as a cannery in the 60's and has been a restaurant for a number of decades.
If you knew the license number of your dad's boat, there's a possibility I could look it up for you, if it's not something the Dept. still considers confidential. It was a 5-digit number usually displayed on the side of the boat, on older boats with a small metal plate. Any DFG paperwork that had to do with boat would also have that number on it. Unfortunately, we probably wouldn't have any pictures of it.
yeah they used to fish out of newport, and now my mom works at the cannery restaurant. it's no big deal, i was just curious. there are a ton of paintings of his boat out there, so i just wondered if maybe this was another :)
