Weird stuff going on, that's for sure. Climate patterns in the high desert have been different for the last few years, than the previous 20+ that I've lived out here. People say, "well, sure, it's the desert - it's supposed to be hot in the summer." That's not what I mean. Rainfall is occuring at different times: there's a late spring/early summer rainfall that's somewhat more like the Sonoran than the Mojave; we're getting more late summer rains, like the Sonoran, as well. Maybe we're turning into the Sonoran, but further west and somewhat (in general) higher altitude. We're getting more winter flooding too. That last one isn't as alarming to me since flooding out here fluctuates...but like you say - often with the El Niño. Was fall 04 an El Niño? Big floods. And early in the season too. Snowfall year before last at very low altitudes...
