Dinah got back from going to the library, and put her haul down on her desk, then sniffed the air, gleeful. "Ooooo! Yummy smells!"

"Awesome," Dinah said, sipping her drink. "I'm going to go home to New Gotham for a day or two, the week before my birthday. Nothing else planned any time soon, though."

"Teddy and me are going to New York one of these weekends to decide on colleges for me," Chad added, feeling it contributed something to the conversation. "When's your birthday?"

"April 23rd. I'll be seventeen," Dinah said, then brightened. "Ooo, which colleges? You got in? Yay!"

"My birthday's in April, too," Chad noted, giving Dinah the The Best People are Born in April thumbs up. "And I got into a few, actually, so I just gotta pick one."

"Road trip!" she sang out, giving him a thumb's up back. "What day is your birthday? You'll be, what, nineteen?"

"Seventh," Chad said with a nod. "And yup. Nineteen. A little old, but things were weird with the transfer to American school from a Japanese one. We're holding a karaoke contest for music club on that day."

"That's on Tuesdays, isn't it? Can people sit in and listen?" Dinah asked hopefully. "I'll have to bake you a cupcake. I probably can't mess that up."

Chad nodded again. "Yup, Tuesdays. And of course you can come and listen. Some people in the club are just listeners. Listening to music is just as important as making it."

"And I'd like a cupcake," he added with the faintest of smiles. "And I'll make you one, too."

"Cooool." Birthdays were totally a good reason to skip Gun Club. Dinah grinned back at him. "And yay. More baking to look forward to."

"And my friend from home usually sends some cupcakes, too," Chad said. "You can have some."

Lots of them, in fact, since they were most likely to be peppermint and anchovy cupcakes...

"Yummmmm. Thanks, Chad." Dinah grinned, no idea what she was in for, and had several more bites of the curry, drinking more water to cool the flames. "Chad? How long have you and Teddy been together, again?" Sometimes Dinah needs turn signals on her conversations.

No idea. At all.

Chad tilted his head a little at the question, especially in catching up with the shift. In a way, Dinah actually reminded him of Orihime in that respect, but hopefully her cupcakes would be better. "Over three years now," he said. "So basically forever."

"Wow. Yeah." That was even longer than Adah and Lee, or Henry and Tony. "You guys... you've never wanted to see other people?" She paused, hearing how that sounded maybe, and hastily said, "Not asking 'cause I'm hitting on either of you! I'm just all curious about relationships, right now."

Chad would have never had that thought if Dinah hadn't said something and now he was trying to get out of his head the weirdness of being hooked up with a roommate. Forget that both his roommates had been very cute girls. The thought of being with them was just....weird. Like being with one of his fake sisters! Weird.

"Not...really," he admitted. "I mean, I think I got a lot of that out of my system before we started dating. And it was a little bit, at first, but now...I really can't imagine being with anyone else."

Dinah thought about that for a minute, then nodded slowly. "Dating other people at first, and stuff. But if you're kind of looking for long-term, easier to stay in long-term, hunh?"

And Leto... definitely wasn't.
