Trying my hand at a character analysis for KR Blade

Apr 20, 2009 23:33

As the subjects say, I'm writing comments on KR Blade characters, though I'm probably not being fair to everyone (some only got a one line mention). Reading over this, it might seems like I dislike a lot of characters, but I think I am annoyed with them rather than outright hate. And I'll try to give some reasons (though sometimes I can't be that ( Read more... )

Kotaro is a good-for-nothing. He's a writer chasing after a rumor, and when he's not doing that he's bumming around his house. It isn't bad parenting to encourage your child to see her lazy uncle as somebody who is wasting his potential.

It is true that Kotaro is somebody who is probably wasting his potential (in the TV series). But he is still Amane's uncle. Regardless of what Kotaro has done or not has done (unless he has killed someone--then all bets are off), this is Japanese society, where I believe the younger generation should have respect for the older generation. In any case, Amane's disrespect just feels wrong to me. The mother doesn't seem to have any redeeming quality either.

Sorry for jumping in. Regarding your ETA, there's nothing wrong with sharing other people's opinions. I think stating them in your own way is helpful for the evolution of your thought.

Even if Kotaro is successful in the end, there's still a perception of him as an eccentric weirdo. Amane's mother is his older sister. I see the disrespect partly as an older sibling's light scolding that her daughter picked up on.

It's no problem. Feel free to comment (or jump in) on anything I write in entries or comments.

That was a little dramatic ETA, I think. I feel better now and shouldn't have let that bother me in the first place. But thank you nevertheless.

The thing is, I do believe Amane's mother is within her right to scold Kotaro for not doing anything seriously with his life, but she should not do so in front of her child. A kid that age seems impressionable and probably thinks it's perfectly acceptable to mock her uncle since her mother does.

By the way, just out of curiosity, how did you find my journal? I'm mostly quiet and never really post or comment in LJ communities, and I don't believe this post is linked anywhere yet.

Well, everyone had different interpretations after all. Can't expect everyone to think the same ( ... )

XD

I mostly nowadays associate a lot of stuffs with things around me, I guess. Like I had a niece who used to be very close to me. When her lil sister was born, she kinda get jealous whenever I didn't pamper her much and play with her other baby sister. Haha. I either read too much on child psychology or i had too many people around me who became super obsessive over the people they loved. XD

I usually didn't like to be too long-winded at times cos then I'll get side-tracked to other unrelated topic. XD

See, unlike you, I don't have any experience with childcare to draw on, so I could only guess. ^^; I like to think I didn't do too bad, though.

To me, it seems perfectly normal that being long-winded would have led to other unrelated topic(s). And I actually find the gradual (or abrupt as the case may be) change of topics interesting. That's how conversation is made in real life, after all. ^^
