I know a lot of left handed kids, as they are learning to write, do reverse more letters than right handed ones... I wonder if it's something like a natural bias in Latin letters, for being written with the right hand (the same way turning a normal corkscrew left handed or opening some jars left handed borders on impossible...)
There's not much point commenting, but I find that if I write in mirror, it's all muscle memory and I don't need to think, but if I write forwards it's all brain memory and I need to think about what it should look like (more like doing a dot to dot)
If I write with my left hand, I tend to want to write certain letters backwards. I think because then it's the equivalent movement (so away from body up back to body down and away in the case of an e). Not tried writing whilst looking in the mirror much though.

I did have a phase where I found it very easy to mirror-write, but not so much any more.
