I had a strange dream last night. This isn't uncommon, but it's rare for me to remember any details at all. The one that sticks out from last night is that, in the middle of a fairly standard action/thriller dream Céline Dion revealed herself to actually be a l337 h4><0r using the singing business as a disguise.

I wonder whether it's significantly cheaper to have your roof redone in December precisely because it's a ridiculous time to do it and so roofers are ten a penny.

This hypothesis would hold more water if I'd noticed anyone getting their roof redone in the summer months.

Although I guess roofers might be quite peripatetic.

Roofers are all working the building sites in summer. This really is the only time of year an ordinary householder can get hold of one of them.

Plus, of course, roofing problems needing a complete rebuild tend to become apparent in Autumn, after the blocked-gutters and storms season.

Perhaps. I knew people who got cheap double glazing through having it fitted while the snow blew into the room.

My guess is that it's about now that you notice that actually your roof is leaking like a sieve and needs to be fixed immediately if not sooner :-)

The boat club was named when APU was still the Cambridge College of Arts and Technology, and hasn't changed its name since.

I don't think that the extra practice helps them that much. A lot of the best First Boat rowers get water training in the holidays too, and everybody's crew changes at the start of every term so it's not as if they're getting more practice rowing as a team.

The more training the better, though, obviously. I'm training harder over the vac than I was during term.
