Snow.

Bleh.

Why, I wonder, is the first significant snow of the year always on a Thursday in Cambridge?

I wondered that earlier.

I set off cycling from Catz badminton courts (down near the start of Grantchester meadows). I think it was only rain then, but I looked at my coat as I was at the silver street lights and realised that it was snowing! Jill arrived at ringing white with snow and we have a snowy lawn!

Surely significant snow happens in places other than Cambridge?

I was a bit surprised to look out on Thursay and see the snow, especially since it didn't seem to have been any there an hour earlier. Of course, it all vanished pretty quickly.

Does Cambridge typically get much snow?

Usually a couple of days bad snow in December and another couple in the New Year; plus sometimes some minor snow.

Icy pavements/roads tends to be more of a problem.
