Except that I can't get that to play on anything (including Windnos). Maybe I should've gone for OGG anyway....

What file format is that? It claims to be a WAV, but is missing its RIFF header...

I can't get it to play here, either (OS10.1.5, Mozilla w/QT plugin). I suspect it's slightly broken.

Geez, that was tough. To make this audible on Linux, I first installed libgsm-tools and ran tcat -u -p 586.gsm >586.raw. Then I was able to play it with play -r 8000 -s b -f U 586.raw, or turn it into a real (properly-headered) WAV with sox -r 8000 -b -U 5.raw 5.wav. I've put up the latter (320k) in case anyone else can make a better attempt at transcribing it than me...
