Not an Icon Post 2

"I am sure you have given me all the heaviest stuff," said Frodo. "I pity snails, and all that carry their homes on their backs."

Cat snails, goat snails, dragon snails, combat snails, strawberry-loving snails, snarling snails, and just plain old snails. Oh yes, and the rimming snail. :)

Snails galore )

the cat! The cat! Gave kitty a new home - and #5 - OMG - wonder if I'll get the guts to use it some day, but had to have it. Where on earth did you find that one? I swear, some of these illustrators must have been into slash writing!

Isn't that cat gorgeous. The edge of the snail shell looks like a fur collar. That's from the same manuscript as your one with the rabbit and the ball. As for the rimming picture--it's Tours BM ms.0008. It has splendid marginalia. :D

And it's actually licking a monkey's bottom, but it made a better icon this way.

I didn't see the whole document with the rabbit and ball - what I found was only that crop. It is gorgeous. And I agree - much better this way *snort*. I am so going to have to get up the nerve to use it.

I'd love to open a tavern called The Rimming Snail.

I think it's inevitable that The Rimming Snail find its way into a story, at the very least. Wouldn't it make a great inn sign?

It would make the best inn sign ever.

The fact that it's a goat-headed rimming snail is just.....asdfj;l

"There is an inn, a merry old inn, and it's known as The Rimming Snail..."

I should have coloured the snail's tongue red, to match the other icon.

The goat head is a nice touch.

In length of tongue, it might even challenge He-who-must-not-be-named. ;)

That is... disturbing. There are a lot of snaily things I could say, and none of them fit for polite company. *g*

in lieu of lube?

In lieu of lube? Well, I suppose. Or a slug.

Ew. Slimy.

That jouster wouldn't get very far either. Not even with a rimming.

Both jousters would be equally disadvantaged, though I'm not sure I see the relationship between rimming and jousting.

*pause*

Well, maybe I do.
