[Don answers the door in a few moments, wearing only a ratty pair of sweat pants and clutching a book that isn't his journal. He looks tired and worn, and turns away from the door without saying anything.]

[Don watches Robert scrawl numbers across the page, murmuring products as his brother needs them - he's always been faster at mental arithmetic - and knowing the answer doesn't matter. Shift-caused or not, the dream terrified him and stirred up the never-fully-buried grief he still has for the loss of his mother. Knowing others had similar dreams will make him feel neither better nor worse about his own visions.]

[It's reassuring, working with numbers - something Robert understands - but they aren't helping in this case, they aren't really explaining anything any more than they already had.

After awhile he just stops and puts the journal aside with half-finished calculations, and stares at his trembling fingers.]

...

[It disturbs him to see Don so troubled. Don is usually calm, collected, in control - though nobody would expect him to be in this situation, at the same time it's very frightening to see him as such.]

... Is... is there anything I can get you, Donatello...?

[He scoots a little closer to his brother. There's no way he can replace April's loss, but he wants to try to do something.]

[He shakes his head back and forth against his brother's shoulder. He just wants to rest in memory for a while. Funny how he can recall his mother's face more clearly in dreams than in waking thought...]

[It's okay. Robert will give him as much time as he needs.

He wraps his slender arms around Don's body and pulls Don gently to him and just breathes, trying not to think about anything else but his love for Don, and the way that still feels strong and unbroken.

It isn't enough, though.]
