My time at UWS is becoming my own private hell

Monday, 9am. A shuttle bus on its way from the station. BUS DRIVER is in the middle of a rant to ACADEMIC, and continues throughout the journey. LUKE stands in the aisle.

It fits in with every game company ever's "Fuck the Australian market" policy. I don't know whether it's the fact that we're essentially a nation of convicts that lets our native people have whatever they want, or whether they're just jealous about our unique marsupials. Clearly there's something we've done as a nation to warrant this sort of price gouging (In my mind, anyway). So that's why we either pirate games, or if we like them enough, buy them from the overseas market. Fuck you, Nintentdo Australia.

PPS: We have Call of Duty 4 (downloaded of course). It must be a good game, because as soon as I start working on the nerd conventions, I turn around and Daniel's been playing it for at least 5 minutes.

Yeah I hear that CoD4 is all peachy keen, but I'm just irked on principle.

I e-mailed Sassan about illegally smuggling internet packets out of his country via Steam gifting though, which apparently solves all problems. I talked to a guy on SA who's snagged all the Rockstar games and CoD4 at the US price by getting them gifted to him.

Probably going to wait until I get a new video card though, because the demo seems to run like a butt.

If you really want the games get a mate in the US to buy them and gift them to you, it works for the Take 2 stuff. A friend decided I had to play the Dawn of War series with a group of guys so he just gifted me the set and soulstorm which you can't get on steam here. I just downloaded them from my account no worries. The publisher royalty system is BS I agree. My last big hurdle to import gaming, the wii finally has had a working bootdisc released for it so now I can import for it. But anything else I get I just do what any good economist would do and exploit the market.

Yeah, I'll probably be getting Shawn to do it for me. It's circumventable, yeah, but the principle of the thing was giving me an aneurysm at the time. I just don't get how they can justify charging me twice as much for the exact same service, let alone denying me it altogether.
