So, this is a challenge put forth by myfeetshowit and brought to my attention by lillianmorgan (who came up with one here).

myfeetshowit's challenge:

Here's a challenge for something similar to drabbling but a tad more challenging (just a tad ( Read more... )

Wonderful!! I'm so pleased that you did this, these are great. You've got so much going on in such a short space of time, and both pieces are Faith and Buffy to a T. There's a lot that's different, but the things that are the same are really engaging.
I love Buffy's progression from insecure teenager to woman of the world. That was really well done. And Faith - the light to the dark indeed, how very apt.
You’re comfortable in the knowledge that they all fear you more.
Gosh! That line really got to me. Really well done.
I'm pimping :)

Thank you!

It was quite fun once I got the ideas, but I was right: it was pretty challenging! I'm so used to being trying to estimate to 100 words, and wasn't quite sure how to visualize 69. Some of them worked perfectly, but at least one was only about 40 words on the first try.

And thanks for pimping! :D

Oh, these are both fantastic. You have both Buffy and Faith down to a T. Not so easy to do with three sets of 69 words - you had to get each just right.

I love the way you caught Buffy - she has what she always thought she wanted and she's lost herself.

Faith, on the other hand, has what she thinks wants, and has never found herself.

A perfect flip-flop and pairing these two brings extra depth to each 369.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed them, and I'm happy to see how you've summarized both - that's very much the feel I was going for.

nicely done ... I love the Faith ones - there is something about the defences Faith puts up, that makes me look all the harder for the cracks, and in each of these you capture in the first sentence what she denies to keep the wall between her and anyone else

Thank you! Yep, denial and self-preservation are a big part of Faith, so I'm glad to hear that that aspect came through in this.

You always surprise and amaze me. You pack so much into such a small space and yet it's always very neatly cleaned and packed. You make the writing feel . . . pure.

Loved these bits the best:

You’re comfortable in the knowledge that they all fear you more.

This is home to you.

You don’t have to be a killer anymore.

You’ve never felt so far from home.

Don’t they know that all a father ever does is hurt you in the end?

Glorious job with a difficult and challenging concept. Kudos to you.
