A Truly Beautiful Thing

My dear and talented friend namastenancy had kindly offered to create a picture for Miss Peri's new room. That picture arrived in the mail today and I'm just blown away. It's a gorgeous colored drawing in the Pre-Raphaelite style, and to tell the truth I'm going to be hard pressed to give it to the kid. Just joking.*g* Thank you, Nancy, from the bottom of ( Read more... )

I am so glad that you liked it. It was fun to do and I gained a new respect for pre-Raphaelite drawing and painting skills. I colored the mat around the drawing with pink pastels and then, sealed it with an acrylic fixitive but I'm not sure how stable it is so you might want to put the whole thing into a glass frame. If you have another Waterhouse drawing that you'd like me to do for you, I'd be glad to oblige. It was a humbling experience to really examine that level of skill but I learned a lot.
Your Halloween sounds lovely. Halloween here in SF is a dangerous freak show and I stay home and lock the doors. I miss the way it used to be!
Good luck on the meds and the organizing in advance.

namaste!

I'm definitely going to get it framed. It's too lovely to do otherwise. Not that I'm an expert, but I think Waterhouse was an amazing painter--there's such a lushness to his work that really appeals to me.

I'd love love love to have another drawing. I'll have to research and see what I come up with.

I'm sorry Halloween is so miserable there. You'd think people could just get into the fun of the holiday and leave that other nonsense at home.

I would have dearly loved to see the two of you in your costumes! I went as the neighborhood Cat Lady this year.

Hello sweetie! Glad to hear you had a lovely Halloween. It's one of the times when I really wish I lived in Small Town America too...my parents are over in Las Vegas for Halloween and have been enjoying it through my 4 year old nephew - not that LV is exactly 'small town' (!) but they went round a nice neighbourhood and enjoyed the displays and so on. Wish I'd been there...

I'm thinking about starting my Christmas shopping early now too, on the basis that I have money now! And inspiration is hard to come by at short notice...

Take care. *hug*

I start my Christmas shopping asap and do it online, as I hate crowds and pressure. But as my family is totally lacking in imagination we tend to tell each other just what we want so I have to rely on them to get back to me.

I'd love to see a photo of Nancy's beautiful pre-Raph picture!

Your costumes sound nifty! Kidlet went as a princess, teenboy threw on his SCA costume and a fake fur cape thing. Oh! But for school he changed out of his normal matching sweats and wore jeans! and a button-down shirt!
