Slough of Despond

Damn, I want my writing mojo back!  I seem to be stuck on a permanent setting of maximum suckitude, from which I cannot escape.  I'd like to be able to do something in the new Sherlock fandom, but I can't seem to summon so much as a decent paragraph.  *cue frowny face*  Perhaps after my dismal showings for monaboyd month and help haiti, the ( Read more... )

I hear you so hard on this. So very, Very hard. Even down to the Sherlock deal. Heh. I want to write for that and Inception, yet I can't even finish a fic for help_haiti in one of my most beloved fandoms for writing in. IDEK.

Have you been reading Sherlock fanfic atall? I have a rec post if you've not, and want to dip your toe in. Also, do you have a preferred pairing or just gen type stuff? I am an otp of one with Watson/Lestrade, although I do like Sherlock/Lestrade/Watson and Sherlock/John. Well. I think I'm actually a bit a bit of a pairings whore. Again. ::facepalm::

Hope you feel better soon. ::hugs:: and ♥

You know this happens to the best of us, my dear. Cut yourself some slack. Also, and I know it's not really polite of me to say so, but it's said with love nonetheless - is there any way out of your current living arrangement? I know: rude, rude, rude. But you sound depressed and very down on yourself, and it's just a wild guess here, but I'm guessing that living with your mom is not helping matters at all. I know there's a lot of pressure on you in general, but it kind of seems like that's not a good situation for you, and I'd personally like to see you not in it, to see if that would help. Just my impression.

Anyway, back to writing...

Having written something people liked doesn't make it any easier the next time you're staring at a half-filled page, convinced that it's all tripe, and badly-written tripe at that.

Some nobody named Neil Gaiman said that, granted, but you never know, it could be true for you, too. Slack, woman: cut yourself some.

In any case, many hugs and good thoughts to you, love. This too shall pass.

I've been thinking that it's too hard to write all alone, and I miss having someone to bounce ideas off of. Want to take a couple of hours tomorrow and just brainstorm? LJ or email or IM chat, or even... voice! I'm good any way.

It comes and goes for me. Sometimes it goes harder than other times. I just have to believe my writing will come back eventually, when I can't quite reach it.

::pets you:: We may have mostly met through fanworks, but that really doesn't mean we have to continue producing them all the time to be interesting to our friends. :)
