Winter is coming - time to stock up

Well, It seems Iowa just passed Autumn right by, so my mother and I today went on an adventure to find some winter reading

I strongly suggest you read the A Song of Ice and Fire series by George RR Martin. I think you'd really dig it :) It has a lot of that medieval/renaissance-ish feel to it while still being high fantasy without obnoxious things like trolls and strange beasts thrown in there arbitrarily. And lots of really great sub-stories with the characters.
