I AM MANIC AS A BASTARD. what do you do when nite after nite you cannot get yourself to sleep? what do you do when you have to take 30 mg ambien, 4 mgs xanax and 4 ADVIL PMs to even relax? and then what do you do when you run out of those pills, and you just sit there, body exhausted, mind wide awake? i know i have to just ride it out, but goddamn ( Read more... )

Um about all the drugs my answer is: overdose.
That is all.
Manic sucks. My new shrink and i am just figuring out i am kinda bi-polar as well. Nothing like you. But, i feel you manic pain. :(

i have an insane tolerance. no one really gets it. thats why i dont take my meds around people.

i think everyone has felt manic at one time or another.

I keep some promethazine around for when nothing else works at about 100mg dose my nausea fades and I finally sleep.
Ambien gives me a headache and I build a tolerance to xanax too fast. I often wean off of xanax so it will work again.
An old fashioned sleep inducing anti-D like doxepin or trazedone would probably work.
Taking the advil PM probably keeps you awake due to the toxic nature of the pain reliever. I use plain diphenhydramine(benadryl) to help induce sleep.
I still have nights when nothing works. I'm not bipolar just insomnia ridden.
Lately nothing stays down without promethazine so I've been sleeping almost regularly. Hey!;-)

I get uncomfortably numb if I take more than 2 or 3 diphenhydramine. I generally take it with xanax.
A couple of beers pushes me over the edge to sleep sometimes. Other times beer keeps me awake

I can't take advil because it makes me speedy and my mind races in a bad way. I don't know if it hits you like that but taking too much can't be good.
Deadly overdoses are often liver failure brought on by ibuprofin or acetominophen. The opiod narcotics are comparatively safe.

I've practically written a treatise on how I take drugs for sleep lately.

i appreciate your info! i used to get all spun on benadryl, but ill try it again i suppose. being spun wouldnt be so bad, i suppose. i also use xanax with my dyphenhydramine. it helps. i miss talking to you.

at the risk of sounded nutty...here it goes...i am a crafty maniac and i don't know what the hell i did before i knitted and crocheted. when you are feeling fidgety or edgy, it gives you something to do that is portable, cheap and you actually have something to show for it. i get anxious around people often and i always have knitting or crochet projects in my bag with me and it just gives me something else to help calm me down...
