A very interesting take on the Cinderella story. I really enjoyed it.
The only thing I would have liked to see was perhaps some dialogue to break up the pace of the narration a bite. But that's entirely at your discretion.
Thank you, ironically, I actually decided against dialogue because I liked how it was completely narrative, especially since I only had two areas where I would have put dialogue. The foot scene and the slipper auditions.
That makes sense. Even though I would have liked some dialogue, it reads more like a fairytale without it, as I fairytales tend to lack it (at least in my memory).
Interesting take on the story! I like it from this point of view, and I was previously unfamiliar with the Grimm version of Cinderella. I'd never heard of stepsisters cutting their feet, how... grim! Anyway, good job :)
Thank you, you should get a good collection of Grimm novels, they are very dark. They were cautionary tales for the most part, be kind, don't go into the woods, etc and so forth.
Yes, I'm quite aware of the 'Grimm' take on fairy tales, and how originally ... not-cute they were. I'd like to read more but I just have never gotten around to it, and I was unfamiliar with their Cinderella.
You've read Oscar Wilde's fairy tales, I imagine? I finished up the 'complete' volume I was given this spring and was quite pleased.
Beautiful and so terribly witty, as expected from you. (: I loved your narrator's voice the most, honestly- a little bit self-assured and bratty, but quite genuine and easy to relate to. It's easy to fall into a lot of misconceptions of what stories based on fairy tales "should" be, and this just really excites my imagination overall. Best of luck this week!
Wow, this was a really cool take on Cinderella. I didn't really like the Disney story either, but I liked how you added dimension to the step sisters. And the way you came up with the title was ingenious!
